Check out this slide they’re installing in the New Museum. I seriously think that slides like this should be a requirement in every building in the world New York City. I think it would solve many problems related to ppl thinking they’re better than everyone else (“hey buddy — take the slide and then we’ll talk”) and also allow for a new WPA as buildings were retrofitted. I’m exaggerating here, obviously, but only a little. The only bad thing is that you’re going to have to wear a helmet and pads — at least on this one — which :(

Quote reblogged from Mark Milian with 68 notes

Songs you listen to often on Spotify sit, encrypted, on your hard drive. The application looks first for these; if it doesn’t find them, it pulls down 15 seconds of the song from the closest server while it looks for copies of the rest of the song on the hard drives of other users near you. This is file sharing. It increases speed and lowers the demand on central servers by spreading it among several connections. Spotify and The Pirate Bay don’t just share a country; they share an operating system.

Some of the magic why Spotify is such a slick service.

Here is a couple of examples.

This is what Meebo IM (see update [5]) looks on Android, the contact…

One year ago today, I got in the driver’s seat of a car that my mother paid for and gave me and drove from Portland, Oregon to Los Angeles, California to (at most) flourish and (at least) not die. Ten years ago today, some normal-sized people hijacked some normal-sized planes and flew them into…
